hi, I'm Oscar

Profile picture

full-stack web developer specializing in backend development, content creator, low level programmer. nvim & arch user

I've recently been accepted to a national data science research program, hosted by The Coding School and a number of notable organizations such as Columbia University, MIT, Stanford, Berkeley, and more!

Outside of that, I'm working on Tortillas , a library/TUI for asynchronous torrenting, made entirely in Rust. If you're curious, you can take a look at it here.

My second most recent (major) project is byeAI, a developer content creation site that completely disallows AI generated or assisted content. It's built from scratch with React, Django, Nginx, and Docker. Check it out!

Hey! If you want to know more about me personally, check this out!

When I was 15, I decided to start focusing more on my education and extracurriculars. I successfully completed Harvard's CS50 admist my sophmore year of highschool, as well as a college level course in the design and analysis of algorithms, hosted by Stanford.

This formal education gave me a proper starting point for software development. I began with Non-Profit Link, a web application for the non-profits in my area, now used by dog shelters in South Africa. I then created RDI (React-Django-Implementation), which I used to help create byeAI, a blogging site for developers that strictly disallows AI generated content.

In between all of this, I spent a good deal of time studying algorithms and practicing LeetCode. I plan to keep practicing LeetCode this summer (2025), and use these skills to start a competitive programming club in college. In terms of academics, I've taken 4 IT classes (all CompTIA based) as well as 4 AP classes, only in the last two years of highschool.

There's a lot that I didn't mention! If you'd like to know more, check out my brag doc.

content creation

As I mentioned in the projects section, I run and manage a YouTube channel. I also create similar content in the form of blogs on Dev.to (although I may consider posting a few of them on this site).

by the way...

I've been featured in Dev.to's "Top 7 Posts of the week" 3 times, and I'm also an active community moderator.

me

mountainbiking

I've been mountain biking since I was 4 years old, and racing since I was 6. Since then, I've participated in multiple interscholastic teams, even helping to start one locally when I was 14. My final highschool level race(s) will be occuring this May & April, although I intend to continue to race well after highschool is over.

teaching

Teaching is a strong passion of mine. As I age out of the mountain biking team I helped start, I plan to act as a coach for the next generation of youth riders. Additionally, I've spent a great deal of time tutoring and learning how to optimally teach. I spent a few hours a week every day of my senior high school year working with students in Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry, and more. I've also privately tutored students online, creating lesson plans and curating practice problems.

sim racing

I really like cars. Consequently, I spend a lot of my free time racing/driving virtually. I own a G923 racing wheel (nothing fancy, but I'm not complaining!) and play Assetto Corsa, BeamNG Drive, Dirt Rally 2.0, and more! Here's a short clip of me "rallying" a Porsche 911 Weissach on an Assetto Corsa touge map (look at that beautiful slide @ 0:20).
